Breeds with heavy coats require regular grooming (brushing & stripping of dead hair) to prevent severe matting problems such as this. This poor guy had to be shaved down to his skin to be rid of all the mats and debris he'd been living with for months.

This Pit Bull puppy has a severe case of Demodectic mange, which is normally easy to clear up with Ivermectin. If left untreated, this type of mange can cause sores, thickened skin and bacterial infections. Since it is hereditary, dogs affected by Demodectic mange should never be bred.

The tumor on this eleven-year-old longhaired Dachshund went untreated for all of her adult life. Had it been removed when it first became obvious, she definitely would have had a chance at a full recovery. People who allow their pets to suffer in such a way probably should stick to plants. There wasn't much we could do for this dog when we rescued her from a Lockhart mini mill except help her to the Rainbow Bridge.
